WhatsApp for iOS is stepping up its game with a new feature that allows users to create events directly in group chats. This feature, initially spotted in a beta version for Android, is now making its way to the stable version of the app for iPhone users. This addition marks a significant enhancement to the instant messaging platform and opens up a world of possibilities for users looking to organize group activities more efficiently.
The arrival of the Event option in group chats on WhatsApp for iOS is a game-changer. Previously, users were limited to creating events in Communities only, restricting the scope of engagement and activities to a specific group. With this new update, users can now create events within group chats, making it easier to coordinate activities, meetings, and gatherings with friends, family, or colleagues.
Users can access the Event feature by tapping the “+” icon in the chat, which opens up the activity menu. From there, users can input the event name, description, start time, and even the location if necessary. Additionally, users have the option to toggle the WhatsApp call link, allowing them to start a call directly from the event chat. The new Event feature is available to all WhatsApp for iOS users, with Gadgets 360 staff members confirming its accessibility after updating to the latest version of the app. As with most new features, updates are typically rolled out gradually, so some users may experience a delay in receiving the update. In addition to the Event feature, WhatsApp has also introduced Meta AI chatbots in select regions, with plans to expand the offering globally. Users may soon have the option to choose between two AI models – Llama 3-70B and Llama 3-405B – each catering to different user preferences and needs. While the former focuses on quick responses, the latter boasts 400 billion parameters, making it Meta’s largest AI model to date. However, the availability of the Llama 3-405B model is still pending public release, hinting at even more exciting updates on the horizon for WhatsApp users.
