DJI’s New Avinox Drive System and Amflow E-Bike Brand

DJI, famous for its drones, is making a significant foray into the world of electric bikes with its newly unveiled Avinox drive system and Amflow e-bike brand. This move is poised to shake up the market and challenge competitors like Bosch and Specialized.

The star of the show is the carbon fiber Amflow PL electric mountain bike, which is set to hit the market before the year ends. One standout feature is the Avinox drive system, boasting an impressive 120Nm of max torque and 1000W of on-demand boost power – perfect for conquering even the toughest terrains. Despite its power-packed performance, the e-bike weighs a mere 19.2kg, thanks to its lightweight carbon fiber frame and Avinox drive system.

Technology Integration

The Amflow PL is not just about power; it also boasts smart features like a two-inch color OLED touchscreen display integrated into the frame, an Avinox app for wireless access to riding data, and a full suspension system from Fox. Additionally, the e-bike offers four pedal-assist modes, including an auto mode that adjusts power delivery based on riding resistance.

According to Christina Zhang, senior director of corporate strategy at DJI, the expertise gained from developing battery and motor technology for drones and camera stabilization systems has paved the way for the Avinox drive system. DJI’s expansion into electric bikes is a natural progression as the company has mastered essential technologies for electric bike systems, including motor development, battery management, and mechanical design.

With a strong foothold in the consumer battery market and experience in developing intelligent driving solutions for automobiles, DJI is well-positioned to make a mark in the e-bike industry. The Amflow PL is priced between €7,000 and €12,000 ($7,500 and $12,850), directly competing with premium electric sport bikes like Specialized’s Turbo series.

The Amflow PL is slated to start shipping in Q4, offering consumers a high-performance and feature-rich electric mountain bike option. DJI’s entry into the electric bike market is expected to stir up competition and provide riders with innovative and powerful e-bike choices.
