The Impressive System Requirements of Horizon Forbidden West’s PC Version

Horizon Forbidden West’s upcoming PC version has revealed some pretty fair-looking system requirements. The newly released specs indicate that playing the open world, robosaur-slaying sequel at its most extreme settings will require a powerful graphics card. However, lower settings and resolutions can still be enjoyed with less powerful hardware.

Minimum and Recommended Specs

For starters, you’ll need an Intel Core i3-8100 or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X as the CPU, both of which are older budget processors. As for the GPU, at least a GeForce GTX 1650 or Radeon RX 5500 XT is necessary. These requirements should not be a challenge for most users with a modern rig. The recommended specs raise the bar with an RTX 3060 or RX 5700, although these are not considered exclusive components in today’s market.

One notable aspect of the system requirements is the storage space needed – a hefty 150GB. This is due to the Complete Edition of the game, which includes the entire Burning Shores expansion in addition to the main adventure. While it may seem excessive, the rich content justifies the storage demand.

Enhanced Features for PC

Horizon Forbidden West on PC will benefit from features like DirectStorage support for reduced load times, DLSS and DLSS 3 frame generation, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS upscaling for better performance on non-RTX graphics cards. Additionally, players using PS5 DualSense controllers can enjoy enhanced gameplay with adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.

While the system requirements and features sound promising, there is still apprehension based on past experiences with PlayStation ports to Windows. Although porting house Nixxes has delivered some decent ports like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, there have been instances of technical issues in the past. Hopefully, Nixxes can ensure a smooth experience for Horizon Forbidden West on PC, despite any potential challenges.

Horizon Forbidden West’s PC version boasts impressive system requirements that cater to a wide range of hardware configurations. With enhanced features and optimizations, the game promises to deliver a visually stunning and immersive experience for players. Despite concerns based on past porting experiences, there is optimism that Nixxes will successfully bring Aloy’s adventures to the PC platform with finesse and technical proficiency.
