Sonos to Launch New Roam Wireless Speaker and App

Sonos is gearing up to release the follow-up to its Roam wireless AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth speaker in June. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company has made some hardware adjustments to address Bluetooth issues with the speaker. This news comes along with the announcement of a new app specifically designed for Sonos’ portable speakers.

New App Features

The upcoming app is said to also provide support for the rumored $449 high-end headphones from Sonos, which are expected to debut in June as well. However, users might have to wait a bit longer for support for the Move 1 and 2, as well as the first-generation Roam, due to reported software development challenges faced by the company.

The original Roam speaker has been praised for its sound quality but has also been criticized for some limitations, such as the inability to pair in stereo over Bluetooth. The updated Roam is expected to feature top-side touch controls similar to Sonos’ Era 100 and 300 speakers, offering an enhanced user experience.

In addition to the new Roam speaker and app, Sonos is reportedly working on a TV set-top box and updated versions of its Sub, Era 100, and Sonos Arc soundbar. These updates are part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its hardware revenue and provide a more comprehensive audio solution for its customers.

Sonos is making significant advancements in its product lineup with the launch of the new Roam wireless speaker and accompanying app. By addressing previous issues and introducing new features, the company aims to continue providing high-quality audio devices and maintaining its position as a leading brand in the tech and entertainment industry. Stay tuned for more updates on Sonos’ upcoming releases and innovations in the coming months.
